Empowered Accountability on the Fire Line

Firefighters are action-oriented professionals who operate in a dynamic, high risk, error intolerant world; where in a matter of mere seconds, a situation can turn from stable to out of control. According to research in the International Fire Service Journal of Leadership & Management, nearly half of all line of duty deaths are attributable to factors under the direct control of the individual. To arm firefighters with the tools to fight fire aggressively while simultaneously taking greater control of their own risk factors, Convergent Performance introduces C2C training.

In 2003, Convergent Performance launched the Global War on Error^® (GWOE), a nontraditional approach that stresses personal responsibility, accountability, and uncompromising compliance, accompanied by a complete set of tools to accomplish all three objectives. This program was born in the fast moving world of combat aviation, and now the same principles that keep military aviators from making life threatening mistakes are offered in Convergent’s C2C for Firefighters program which goes well beyond the “follow the rules” approach. This program educates and motivates firefighters and supervisors to take full responsibility for their attitudes and actions and provides additional tools for peer-to-peer support to those around them.

Far more than a safety training program, C2C advocates and empowers a discipline of thought and action that extends beyond the station and crosses the home/work threshold, making errors more predictable and preventable.
